Inventory and Receiving Specialist

(Operations Department)

The Inventory and Receiving Specialist is responsible for two primary activities in the warehouse. First is to process receipts, and to move, locate, relocate, stack, and enter transactions for all inbound and outbound material as directed. Second is to assist in maintaining an accurate inventory status through cycle counting, spot checks, and attention to detail.

Essential Functions


  • Participates in cycle counting, spot checks, and physical inventories as required;
  • Conducts periodic cycle counts at the request of or with the Inventory Coordinator;
  • Researches and presents past transactions where inventory errors occurred and how;
  • Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement to increase efficiencies in stock movement.


  • Moves product to storage locations and places product in the appropriate area as directed;
  • Conveys domestic stock received to the proper picking bin in the fulfilment aisles;
  • Inspects inbound shipments for accuracy and condition then records all exceptions as required;
  • Serves as back-up for the Receiving Specialist(s);
  • Coordinates and conducts inventory movement to the Embroidery Department regularly throughout the day as inbound material has been received for their department;
  • Executes material transactions using a WMS bar code scanning device when applicable;
  • Coordinates and ensures material transactions are accurately recorded in the ERP/WMS system.


  • Pulls stock and ships to suppliers as directed;
  • Communicates timely and effectively with other departments, vendors, and service providers;
  • Performs all assignments while following safety guidelines for themselves and fellow team members;
  • Operates all equipment in a safe and efficient manner while following standard operating procedures;
  • Takes care of and maintains company supplies and tools by using them correctly and returning them to their proper place;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team;
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment: pallet jacks, rolling carts, stretch wrappers, etc.;
  • Ability to use bar code scanners, fulfillment workstation systems, freight and package scales, etc;
  • Experience entering inventory transactions directly into an ERP as well as using a WMS system;
  • Ability to read and count accurately, do simple math, and write legibly;
  • Ability to maintain accurate records to meet inventory control requirements;
  • Works with a sense of urgency while maintaining their attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow instructions and directions.
  • Ability to lift-up to 40 pounds all at once or repetitively throughout a shift.
