Brand Developer

Overview

The Brand Developer is a design professional with experience in the uniform and workwear industry preferred.  The successful team member in this role will demonstrate a strong fashion sense, understand textiles, be detailed-oriented and have a passion for enhancing our customers' brand image.  This role works in collaboration with the sales, product development and global sourcing departments, as well as with customers, to ensure that Ukrop’s Threads is providing leading edge products and services to support both our short- and long-term growth imperatives.  Travel will be required in this role, as well as possible weekends when asked or needed to serve client or tradeshows.

Essential Functions

  • Supports trend initiatives through research and analysis and creates compelling communications to inform all audiences;
  • Stays in-tuned to industry and competitor trends and reports accurate and timely updates to team members and company;
  • Provides new product research and development products;
  • Designs and prepares trend, color, and style boards for presentations to senior leadership and customers;
  • Delivers and drives fashion forward designs and innovative solutions to Ukrop’s Threads’ customers in the workwear and corporate apparel categories;
  • Ensures that creation of design brand products is appropriate and within the customer’s and Ukrop’s Thread’s financial targets;
  • Selects materials based on their functional properties, aesthetics, and costs while in support of the design specifications;
  • Utilizes materials in the construction of apparel that will strongly enhance the client’s wearability and experience;
  • Conducts garment fit-sessions independently and coordinates construction with technical design partners;
  • Manages process from design concepts to design selection to prototype to production;
  • Partners in communications with Ukrop’s Threads departments and customers on a consistent and continuous basis regarding development of the product throughout the design processes;
  • Supports and collaborates on multiple projects of high priority and development calendars;
  • Creates/designs tech packs and color briefs;
  • Partners with sales to facilitate customer focus groups and discovery around preferred designs.

Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design and/or equivalent experience;
  • Minimum 4-6 years of experience in customer service, order processing or similar role;
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel PowerPoint and Outlook;
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills to all levels of an organization as well as outside customers;
  • Ability to listen, learn, and take direction;
  • Functional knowledge of both knit and woven fabrications;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and make critical/tight deadlines;
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and adaptable in a fast-paced work environment;
  • Demonstrated ability in technical and creative tasks;
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud products including Illustrator and Photoshop.
